I am going to be driving my wife and her dad to it. I may be wrangled into going inside, like last year. I dress in jeans, a nice shirt, cowboy boots and hat, walk in tall and proud, speak to no one unless they speak to me first, and answer every question with a question. Sometimes I think of mean things to say, like if they call me brother....I think I might retort with....I ain't any of your goddamn brother. But that is just rude so I tryu to change my tude! LOL

Of course my reaction would be to pay someone to break her legs
And cheat myself of the pleasure?

A judicial case I know of

What a slap in the face...You find out your wife is cheating and you get df'd too? Who knows what these guys are thinking. What I know about congregational matters is lots of latitude in judgement is given to the local boe. I have seen many injustices since my folks were brought in back in the 60's.
:confession:
My wife and I were inactive and were into teh swinger lifestyle for a little bit. No one knows except you guys.

Where do you draw the line???
by cognac inwhen you feel like what jws have done is wrong and you want to take a stand but on the other hand you also want your family to love you?.
what, in the end, matters most?
i go back and forth on this.

Hi Cognac,
Listen....I am in your position. My wife has family that are in. Many of them are in til death. Others are honest people who see teh bs the wts pushes on them but are for some reason or another not able to act. I love my wife and her family, and would not be happy if I did not have their love. That is just basic humanity. My mom, and sibs are inactive as am I. I am getting some success with my bro as far as sharing my pov.
Take baby steps til you know what you are getting into. Pick the ground you will fight on too.

Did anyone ever "Really" stumble you ?
by Casper inthis is one of the things i felt could get really petty in the congregation i attended, sometimes over the top, in my opinion.. one time a group of us sisters went on a shopping trip.
the driver was knocking herself out trying to find some "decent" music on the radio.
finally gave up and put a john mellencamp tape in.

I got the invite but no mags...I think I've been CHEATED!
Actually the kid that brought the invite is a friend of my youngest son. He was alone at my door so I can assume he was out in the field with my older son. The one I kicked outta my house for being a drunken, meth-using asshole that got us thrown onto the street and left us homeless. (ON PURPOSE) Now before anyone judges me, he has cost us two homes. I tried hard to help him, to encourage him, to send him to college, and he rejected it all. So I have let him go and banned him from my new home because that is what I had to do to keep a roof over our heads.
Now, he knocked and acted like he was surprised to see me. He looked out toward the street a couple of times so I figure our older boy was putting him up to coming to the door. He didn't even know when the memorial was! He gave me the Invite around the 1st and he said it was on Saturday! LOL

Is anyone else hoping for the Society to "crack down" on the friends?
by Olin Moyles Ghost inthere have been a few threads speculating about possible future actions by the society, triggered in part by the "valueless things" article and losch's alleged new light re: bablylon the great.
personally, i hope they do something crazy and make up some new unscriptural doctrines and/or rules.
this may help some of my family members to "see the light," so to speak.

I have heard that any crackdown that leads to people fleeing will be the big cleaning of the house.....

" I would take a bullet for you!"
by AK - Jeff ini recall that statement being made in the car groups of pioneers i was in at times, when we would talk about our 'brotherhood'.
i meant it then.
i ponder it now.

These are people like any other human being. I suppose your actions would speak to your own set of values and ethics. I have risked my neck to save others without wondering if they would return the favor. Well, not while I was actually moving into harm's way for them. My own values dictate to me that all human life is of some value. I am not saying I would jump in to save a murdering scumbag, but most anyone I cross paths with on the street would get my help if needed. These pioneers may hate you and shun you, but I can't believe that hating them back is a good thing. In your shoes I would just wait til the moment and see. You might be surprised how you behave.....
